HOW DO I SWITCH CAT FOOD?
We always recommend making a transition over about a week-10 days, where you gradually increase the amount of new feed and decrease the amount of the previous feed. This is recommended at all feed changes to reduce the risk of a reaction from the gastrointestinal system.
DOES PETGOOD'S CAT FOOD COUNT AS AN ALLERGY FOOD?
Our feed is a standard diet, but we only use a new and unusual protein source - insect protein. Thanks to the fact that the cat has not encountered the protein source before, the risk of an allergic reaction is lower. Our feed contains no other animal ingredients and is, in other words, free from common feed allergens such as beef, chicken, dairy products, lamb and eggs.
We always recommend a cat owner of a cat with a suspected or established allergy to consult their veterinarian for advice on the choice of feed.
DOES OUR CAT FOOD WORK AGAINST URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS?
Urinary tract problems are one of the most common diseases in our cats, but can be prevented to some extent with the right diet. The levels of magnesium and phosphorus in our feed are carefully balanced to achieve the desired pH value in the urine, as a lower pH reduces the risk of urinary tract infection and the formation of crystals and urinary stones. We have also included cranberry which has a positive effect on the bladder lining, to further support a healthy urinary tract in your cat.
Another factor that can contribute to urinary tract disease is stress. Our food contains a special blend of tryptophan and L-casein, both clinically proven to reduce stress and stress-related behaviors in cats. These bioactive ingredients may also help reduce the incidence of stress-related illnesses in cats.
Our feed is not therapeutic, but has preventive properties that support healthy urinary tracts. We always recommend cat owners of a cat with suspected, established or previous urinary tract disease to consult their veterinarian for advice on the choice of feed.
IS OUR CAT FOOD WITHOUT CHICKEN?
Our cat food is completely free of animal ingredients in addition to insects. It is thus completely without chicken - both chicken fat and chicken protein.
IS IT A GOOD CAT FOOD FOR KITTENS TOO?
We currently offer a complete food for adult cats. In the future, we hope to also launch a feed for kittens and pregnant cats.
HOW LONG DOES AN OPENED PACKAGE OF CAT FOOD LAST?
An unopened package lasts approximately 18 months, where the best-before date is on the package. The shelf life of an opened bag is affected by how the feed is stored and should be consumed within two months. The most sensitive are the fatty acids, and the bag must therefore be closed carefully between uses, and stored in a dark, dry and cool place to keep it fresh. The feed should not smell rancid or musty.
