We are a Swedish company that offers healthy products for dogs and cats, with sustainability in focus. In our dog food and other products, you will therefore only find one animal protein source - insects.

Why insects? Well, the species of black soldier fly that we work with is incredibly nutritious - packed with essential amino acids and healthy fatty acids. In addition, it is a new source of protein, which means it can work well for dogs with food allergies or sensitive stomachs. All this, with a much lower burden on our planet.

Since the start, we've received great feedback from pet parents who have finally found a nutritious, high-quality dog ​​food that works well for their four-legged friend.

But why are insects so good for both the dog and the planet?

Our products are rich in protein from the larva of the insect species black soldier fly, a high-quality and hypoallergenic protein source that is completely free of growth hormones and antibiotics. All our feeds are complete and balanced feeds, and therefore contain all the nutrition the dog needs.

HIGH QUALITY INSECT PROTEIN

Insects are rich in highly digestible amino acids, making them a high-quality protein source. What this really means is that they cover your dog's needs for all essential amino acids and that your dog can easily absorb the valuable protein. The larvae also contain healthy fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6.

SUPPORTS YOUR DOG'S DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

Insects are a new source of protein for many dogs and can therefore be good for dogs with food allergies or sensitive stomachs. Since the dog has not encountered insect protein before, the risk of an allergic reaction is reduced. Our feed also contains healthy dietary fibers and prebiotics from natural sources, which have proven positive effects on the intestinal bacterial flora and immune system.

Insects are our only animal ingredient, and our dog food is free of common allergens such as chicken, soy, dairy, beef and wheat. All this, combined with the fact that our products are naturally gluten-free, makes them extra gentle and hypoallergenic for the digestive system.

NUTRITIOUS AND NATURAL DOG FOOD

Our dog food is packed with nutrition from natural and carefully selected ingredients and added vitamins and minerals. Insects are also a source of protein that is completely free from unwanted additives in production such as antibiotics and growth hormones. In addition to insects, the remaining ingredients are plant-based. Only good nutrition in our dog food - nothing else.

RECIPE DEVELOPED WITH VETERINARIANS AND EXPERTS

Our products are developed together with veterinarians and nutritionists to ensure an optimal nutritional profile, and all our recipes are based on FEDIAF nutritional recommendations. Our dental sticks are also developed together with dental care specialists to ensure a high quality product for your dog's dental health.

Traditional protein sources such as beef, pork and chicken cause a huge burden on our planet. Pets today account for approximately 25% of the environmental impact from global meat consumption. We have to find new ways for a sustainable future - at petgood we want to be part of the solution.

INSECT-BASED DOG FOOD IS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY

You make a climate-smart choice by choosing insect-based food for your dog. The production of insect protein is very resource efficient; for example, the production of 1 gram of insect protein results in 94% less greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1 gram of beef.

Production also uses 80% less water and 93% less land. 10,000 tons of insect protein per hectare and year can be produced thanks to sustainable and modern systems. We need to be careful about our planet's resources, and saving water and land is an important piece of the puzzle.

OUR INSECTS TAKE CARE OF FOOD WASTE

We work with an insect farm in the Netherlands that, just like us, puts sustainability high on the agenda. For example, the farm collaborates with local businesses and makes use of their plant-based food waste. The larvae are fed with it, and they convert it into high quality protein = no feed needs to be grown for the insects and a circular cycle is created!

DOG FOOD WITH SUSTAINABILITY AS A GUIDING PRINCIPLE

The plant-based ingredients we use come to 99.9% from the EU, to reduce transport and guarantee traceability and quality. For this reason, we have opted out of ingredients such as rice and soy in our products. We also work against food waste by ensuring that usable feed never has to be thrown away. If we get excess food, this is instead donated to organizations in need.

Primarily, we work with Budbee for our deliveries to customers. Budbee prioritizes sustainability just like us, and works with fossil-free fuels and to constantly optimize their routes and reduce their emissions.

We want our work to follow our values of sustainability, innovation and transparency. Therefore, we are constantly working to identify opportunities for improvement, and areas where we can reduce our pawprint.

HOW DO I SWITCH DOG FOOD?

We always recommend making a transition over about a week to ten days, where you gradually increase the amount of new feed and reduce the amount of the previous feed. This is recommended at all feed changes to reduce the risk of a reaction from the gastrointestinal system.

DOES PETGOOD'S DOG FOOD COUNT AS AN ALLERGY FOOD?

Our feed is a standard diet,, but we only use a new and unusual protein source - insect protein. Thanks to the fact that the dog has not encountered the protein source before, the risk of an allergic reaction is lower. Our feed contains no other animal ingredients and is, in other words, free from common food allergens such as beef, chicken, dairy products, lamb and eggs.

We always recommend dog owners of a dog with a suspected or confirmed allergy to consult their veterinarian for advice on the choice of feed.

IS PETGOOD DOG FOOD GOOD FOR A DOG WITH A SENSITIVE STOMACH?

Insects are our only animal ingredient, and our dog food is free of common allergens such as chicken, soy, dairy, beef and wheat. This, combined with the fact that our products are naturally gluten-free, makes them extra gentle and hypoallergenic for the digestive system.

Our feed also contains healthy dietary fibers and prebiotics from natural sources, which have proven positive effects on the intestinal bacterial flora and immune system. The prebiotics used are both inulin, which is a natural source of FOS, and brewer's yeast and corn, which are natural sources of MOS. Both of these nutrients have been extensively studied for their positive properties on the good intestinal bacteria in dogs.

IS OUR DOG FOOD WITHOUT CHICKEN?

Our dog food is completely free of animal ingredients in addition to insects. It is thus completely without chicken - both chicken fat and chicken protein.

IS IT A GOOD DOG FOOD FOR PUPPIES TOO?

We currently offer a complete food for adult dogs and a complete food for puppies. Our puppy food contains higher levels of fat and protein, specific fatty acids that are important for the puppy's brain and nervous system, as well as a mineral balance suitable for a growing dog. Since we launched, many petgood litters have come into the world, with very satisfied breeders with the well-being and growth of the puppies!

HOW LONG DOES AN OPENED PACKAGE OF DOG FOOD LAST?

An unopened package lasts approximately 18 months, where the best-before date is on the package. The shelf life of an opened bag is affected by how the feed is stored and should be consumed within two months. The most sensitive are the fatty acids, and the bag must therefore be closed carefully between uses, and stored in a dark, dry and cool place to keep it fresh. The feed should not smell rancid or musty.

HOW IS DOG FOOD MADE?

Our feeds are dry feeds and are produced through a cooking process where the ingredients are treated under high temperature, high pressure and high forces to improve digestibility and ensure feed hygiene. Combining high pressure and high temperature with a short treatment time optimizes health effects while minimizing any adverse effects from the heat.
