INSECT-BASED adult CAT FOOD
Insect Power
GOOD FOR YOUR CAT AND THE PLANET
Our insect-based cat food is rich in protein from the insect black soldier fly, a high-quality protein source that is completely free from growth hormones and antibiotics. The insects are rich in protein and essential amino acids, just like your cat would get from traditional meat, and has high digestibility. On top of that, insects also provide healthy fatty acids and minerals. Our diet also provides prebiotics and dietary fiber, for a healthy intestinal flora.
All of this, with a much lower climate footprint. Nutritious, climate-smart and scientifically based.

We are petgood - the do good petfood
We are a Swedish company that offers healthy products for dogs and cats, with sustainability in focus. In our cat food and other products, you will therefore only find one animal protein source - insects.
Why insects? Well, the species of black soldier fly that we work with is incredibly nutritious - packed with essential amino acids and healthy fatty acids. In addition, it is a new source of protein, which means it can work well for cats with food allergies or sensitive stomachs. All this, with a much lower burden on our planet.
Since the start, we've received great feedback from pet parents who have finally found a nutritious, high-quality food that works well for their four-legged friend.
But why are insects so good for both the cat and the planet?
Benefits for the cat
Our products are rich in protein from the larva of the insect species black soldier fly, a high-quality and hypoallergenic protein source that is completely free of growth hormones and antibiotics. All our foods are complete and balanced diets, and therefore contain all the nutrition the cat needs.
HIGH QUALITY INSECT PROTEIN
Insects are rich in highly digestible amino acids, making them a high-quality protein source. What this really means is that our food covers your cat's needs for essential amino acids and that your cat can easily absorb the valuable protein. The larvae also contain beneficial fatty acids, such as omega-3 and omega-6.
SUPPORTS YOUR CAT'S DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
Insects are a new source of protein for many cats and can therefore be good for cats with food allergies or sensitive stomachs. Since the cat has not encountered insect protein before, the risk of an allergic reaction is reduced. Our feed also contains healthy dietary fibers and prebiotics from natural sources, which have proven positive effects on the intestinal bacterial flora and immune system.
PREVENTS URINARY TRACT INFECTION IN YOUR CAT
Urinary tract problems are one of the most common diseases in our cats, but can be prevented to some extent with the right diet. The levels of magnesium and phosphorus in our feed are carefully balanced to achieve the desired pH value in the urine, as a lower pH reduces the risk of urinary tract infection. We have also included cranberry which has a positive effect on the bladder wall, to further support a healthy urinary tract in your cat.
CAT FOOD THAT REDUCES STRESS
A relaxed cat is a happy cat. Our food contains a special blend of tryptophan and L-casein, both clinically proven to reduce stress and stress-related behaviors in cats. These bioactive ingredients may also help reduce the incidence of stress-related diseases in cats. These are the same natural substances that the mother cat shares with her kittens via the mother's milk, and gives the kittens a sense of calm and safety.
DEVELOPED WITH VETERINARIANS AND EXPERTS
Our products are developed together with veterinarians and nutritionists to ensure an optimal nutritional profile, and all our recipes are based on FEDIAF nutritional recommendations.
Benefits for the planet
Traditional protein sources such as beef, pork and chicken cause a huge burden on our planet. Pets today account for approximately 25% of the environmental impact from global meat consumption. We have to find new ways for a sustainable future - at petgood we want to be part of the solution.
INSECT-BASED CAT FOOD IS ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY
You make a climate-smart choice by choosing insect-based food for your cat. The production of insect protein is very resource efficient; for example, the production of 1 gram of insect protein results in 94% less greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1 gram of beef.
Production also uses 80% less water and 93% less land. 10,000 tons of insect protein per hectare and year can be produced thanks to sustainable and modern systems. We need to be careful about our planet's resources, and saving water and land is an important piece of the puzzle.
OUR INSECTS TAKE CARE OF FOOD WASTE
We work with an insect farm in the Netherlands that, just like us, puts sustainability high on the agenda. For example, the farm collaborates with local businesses and makes use of their plant-based food waste. The larvae are fed with it, and they convert it into high quality protein = no feed needs to be grown for the insects and a circular cycle is created!
CAT FOOD WITH SUSTAINABILITY AS A GUIDING PRINCIPLE
The plant-based ingredients we use come to 99.9% from the EU, to reduce transport and guarantee traceability and quality. For this reason, we have opted out of ingredients such as rice and soy in our products. We also work against food waste by ensuring that usable feed never has to be thrown away. If we get excess fodder, this is instead donated to organizations in need.
Primarily, we work with Budbee for our deliveries to customers. Budbee prioritizes sustainability just like us, and works with fossil-free fuels and to constantly optimize its routes and reduce its emissions.
We want our work to follow our values of sustainability, innovation and transparency. Therefore, we are constantly working to identify opportunities for improvement, and areas where we can reduce our pawprint.
Frequently asked questions
HOW DO I SWITCH CAT FOOD?
We always recommend making a transition over about a week-10 days, where you gradually increase the amount of new feed and decrease the amount of the previous feed. This is recommended at all feed changes to reduce the risk of a reaction from the gastrointestinal system.
DOES PETGOOD'S CAT FOOD COUNT AS AN ALLERGY FOOD?
Our feed is a standard diet, but we only use a new and unusual protein source - insect protein. Thanks to the fact that the cat has not encountered the protein source before, the risk of an allergic reaction is lower. Our feed contains no other animal ingredients and is, in other words, free from common feed allergens such as beef, chicken, dairy products, lamb and eggs.
We always recommend a cat owner of a cat with a suspected or established allergy to consult their veterinarian for advice on the choice of feed.
DOES OUR CAT FOOD WORK AGAINST URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS?
Urinary tract problems are one of the most common diseases in our cats, but can be prevented to some extent with the right diet. The levels of magnesium and phosphorus in our feed are carefully balanced to achieve the desired pH value in the urine, as a lower pH reduces the risk of urinary tract infection and the formation of crystals and urinary stones. We have also included cranberry which has a positive effect on the bladder lining, to further support a healthy urinary tract in your cat.
Another factor that can contribute to urinary tract disease is stress. Our food contains a special blend of tryptophan and L-casein, both clinically proven to reduce stress and stress-related behaviors in cats. These bioactive ingredients may also help reduce the incidence of stress-related illnesses in cats.
Our feed is not therapeutic, but has preventive properties that support healthy urinary tracts. We always recommend cat owners of a cat with suspected, established or previous urinary tract disease to consult their veterinarian for advice on the choice of feed.
IS OUR CAT FOOD WITHOUT CHICKEN?
Our cat food is completely free of animal ingredients in addition to insects. It is thus completely without chicken - both chicken fat and chicken protein.
IS IT A GOOD CAT FOOD FOR KITTENS TOO?
We currently offer a complete food for adult cats. In the future, we hope to also launch a feed for kittens and pregnant cats.
HOW LONG DOES AN OPENED PACKAGE OF CAT FOOD LAST?
An unopened package lasts approximately 18 months, where the best-before date is on the package. The shelf life of an opened bag is affected by how the feed is stored and should be consumed within two months. The most sensitive are the fatty acids, and the bag must therefore be closed carefully between uses, and stored in a dark, dry and cool place to keep it fresh. The feed should not smell rancid or musty.
