petgood visits Kustmarken! 💜
We are incredibly proud to work with Kustmarkens Hundtjänst, a kennel and training facility committed to the breeding and training of service dogs; guide dogs for the visually impaired, protection and tracking dogs for the Police and Armed forces, and assistance dogs for people with disabilities or special needs.
We were invited for a visit to get to know them and their work a bit more - join us behind the scenes!
Our day at Kustmarken started with the daily obedience training of the dogs. The dogs are trained together in basic exercises such as follow, sit, stay and lay down. A big part of a guide dog's work is to be able to focus regardless of disturbances around, and also to be able to relax and wait, even though things are going on around them. These dogs showed us that they certainly had these skills, and impressed us all.
We also had the opportunity to meet one of the dog handlers that has a service dog from Kustmarken, and learn about what her service dog means for her in her daily life - stay tuned as we will do a special episode about this incredible team.
Last but not least, we also got to try being guided with a guide dog through an obstacle course - of course with a blindfold on. Seeing the dog being so calm and leading through the obstacles with confidence and a wagging tail was truly amazing.
