petgood's kitten food is here!

What is the difference to our adult food, and why is it important that your kitten eats a high-quality kitten food? How can food affect the kitten's growth and development?

Why is it important that kittens get kitten food?

In order to give your kitten the best conditions for a good start in life, it is important that you feed the kitten with a high-quality kitten food. Kitten foods are more adapted to the kitten's specific nutritional needs, so that they grow and develop into healthy and strong cats.

We are now finally launching our insect-based kitten food, which we have adapted specifically to these needs. Our dry food for kittens contains high-quality protein from the larva of the black soldier fly, which provides your kitten with energy and building blocks for muscles and tissues. The food contains all the cat's essential amino acids, including taurine, which is important for a healthy heart and normal development of eye tissue.

In our cat food, we have also optimized the content of fatty acids, which contribute with several health benefits. Our kitten food contains higher levels of a specific omega-3 fatty acid called Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). DHA is essential for the healthy development of the cat's brain, retina and nervous system. DHA is found naturally in the mother cat's milk, and it has actually been seen that DHA in the diet of puppies and kittens lead to better memory and cognitive abilities! We have also optimized the ratio between the fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6 according to the kitten's needs, to provide the right conditions for healthy skin and shiny fur in the growing cat.

Our kitten food, and also other complete foods, contain prebiotics from natural sources, which have proven positive effects on the intestinal bacterial flora. Supporting the good intestinal bacteria right from the start provides good conditions for a balanced intestinal flora even in adulthood.

What is the difference to petgood's adult food for cats?

The biggest differences between the kitten food and our adult food is

  • The kitten food has higher levels of a fatty acid called Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). DHA is an essential fatty acid for the development of the kitten's nervous system, brain and retina.
  • the kitten food has higher levels of fat for energy and growth, and specifically the fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6, to provide optimal conditions for healthy skin and shiny fur
  • the kitten food has higher levels of minerals, such as calcium and phosphorus, for the healthy development of the kitten's bones, ligaments and joints.

At what age is it appropriate to switch to adult food?

We recommend that you switch from kitten food to adult food when your kitten is fully grown. For most cats, it occurs around one year of age. Very large breeds, such as the Maine Coon, can continue a little longer on the kitten food, but always keep an eye on the cat's body condition.

How did you develop your kitten food?

Our kitten food is developed together with vets and nutritionists to ensure an optimal nutritional profile, and all our recipes follow FEDIAF nutritional recommendations based on the latest research. It is suitable for all breeds up to adulthood, and is also suitable for pregnant and lactating female cats.

The sustainability aspect is always a high priority for us when we develop new products. Like our other products for dogs and cats, our cat food contains animal protein from the larva of the black soldier fly. It is a protein source that is incredibly resource efficient compared with more traditional protein sources. Insects need less water and feed, use significantly less land and cause lower emissions of greenhouse gases. Our insects are naturally resistant to disease and grow quickly all naturally. Thanks to this, our production is completely free of antibiotics and growth hormones. For healthy animals, now and in the future.
